Family
An equipment family could be a rapid cook oven platform that shares a single controller. The members of the family could have various optional features. E.g. Microwave, convection, humidity control, automatic door openers, different numbers of cooking chambers, temperature probes, etc.
All models in a particular family share the same Data Dictionary. The Data Dictionary is a superset of all the parameters possibly presented by the set of models. In the rapid cook oven described above, some models may have a microwave magnetron and may not. There could be a "magnetron_power" parameter defined in the Data Dictionary for the family. This would be an optional parameter and only those models that microwaves elements included would provide this parameter. Part of the Dictionary Document is a matrix of Models and Parameters which defines the subset of parameters supported by each model.
Sections:
FAMILY_ID
A family of equipment models is defined by the family_id. This is an identifier for the data dictionary and is provided by Powerhouse Dynamics. The family_id uniquely identifies a data dictionary for a product family.
Family Name
Internal label for the data dictionary/family of models that are supported by the data dictionary. Normally this will be assigned by Powerhouse Dynamics.
Equipment Type
Predefined equipment type used by Open Kitchen. E.g., Fryer, Rapid Cook Oven, Combi Oven, etc. Open Kitchen uses the equipment type to create common reports and widgets that can be aggregated across multiple different models and manufacturers. This should be selected from the Equipment Type dropdown on the Family sheet. Most types of equipment should be available in this list, and it is recommended to try and choose the one that most resembles the actual equipment. If there is no relevant type, contact Powerhouse Dynamics and a new Equipment Type can be provided.
