CE Installation - SAP without a CWM
If you’re installing both a Secure Access Point and ConnectWare Module, please be sure that the customer is aware of the need to connect an Ethernet cord to their IT infrastructure. Assuming we have permission to connect to their network, follow the steps below.
Record the Device ID from the back of the Secure Access Point (SAP). It will be in small print toward the bottom.
Locate an area to install the SAP.
Ideally, it will be centrally located near most of the customer’s equipment to assist with future connections.
It will need access to an Ethernet cable that can reach their network equipment and an available power outlet.
When possible, avoid placing the SAP in an enclosure that could restrict signal range.
Factors in the facility will influence signal range, but generally we see strong connectivity when within 45 feet with minimal obstructions. For more information, review SAP Signal Range.
Please attached the power cord and plug the SAP into an available outlet.
You’ll need to connect the SAP to the customer’s internet equipment using an Ethernet cord. Please plug it into the SAP’s WAN port located on the far left in the image above (farthest port from the power port).
The other end of the Ethernet cord should plug into a port designated by the customer (example: “Port 16 - Cisco switch”).
There should be activity on the power LED and either the 2G or 5G light.
From here, please follow instructions from the original equipment manufacturer for steps needed to connect the equipment to the Secure Access Point.
If you run into connectivity challenges, review the SAP Troubleshooting section. Section 7 of that document may provide more relevant insight for your installation.
