Moving or Removing Equipment from a Location

There are two paths for removing equipment from a location. The recommended path is to unbind the equipment completely. This breaks the association with that equipment and the location, which will enable it to be bound elsewhere in the future if desired. The other method is to disassociate the data (what Open Kitchen refers to as a “sensor”) from the equipment placeholder before deleting the visible equipment. This will keep the “sensor” associated with the location while preventing the equipment from being viewable.

 

Method 1 - Unbinding the Equipment (Can Move Equipment to a New Location)

  1. Using the navigation path at the top of the screen, find the location you’re unbinding equipment from.

  2. Navigate to the Connectivity tab.

  1. Find the device you wish to unbind. You may need to click on green “+” icons to expand the connectivity tree to find the equipment. The plus will transition to a “-” when it has been expanded.

  2. Once you’ve identified the equipment, click on its image or where it shows the “UUID”.
    Note: Clicking on the blue name will navigate you to the equipment’s page.

    The following are extra steps if you’re intending to move the equipment to a different location.

    1. Record its UUID in the popup that appears. If there is a “-” followed by any number at the end of the UUID, please avoid recording those characters. You only need the characters before the “-”, as shown in the example below within the green box.

    2. After unbinding, you can click Add IoT Device in the upper right area of the Connectivity tab of the location you wish to move the device to.

    3. Enter the UUID that you recorded to bind it to the location. If you are using an SAP, the equipment will automatically try to connect once it has been unbound from its original location, so this step will not be necessary.

  3. Within the popup, you will see an option to Unbind in the lower right corner. A second popup will appear.

  4. Leaving the checkmark next to “Unbind associated appliances?” selected while pressing Confirm will unbind the equipment from the location.

 

 

 

Method 2 - Removing the Equipment from View (Cannot Move Equipment Location)

  1. Using the navigation path at the top of the screen, find the location that contains the equipment you wish to remove from the location snapshot, equipment level, and company level views.

  2. Navigate to the Data Sources tab.

  3. Scroll through the list of “sensors” to find the one that lists the desired equipment’s name in blue text. Select that row so that it highlights.

  4. Press Unlink at the top of the table. This separates the “sensor” from the viewable equipment.

  1. Navigate to the Equipment section.

  2. Find the name of the equipment you wish to remove. Select its row so that it highlights in blue.

  3. Select Delete from the top of the table.
    Note: The icon will be grayed out and unavailable if a sensor is still assigned to the equipment, as shown in the image above.
