There are many different ways to connect equipment to the Open Kitchen platform. The most common approach is to use a Secure Access Point (SAP) and ConnectWare Module (CWM) to create a quick and secure connection while automating much of the provisioning process. In some instances, the equipment does not need a CWM and can connect to the SAP directly.
In the event that the location’s IT team does not want to have an SAP in place, there are other methods of connection. The location’s IT team can emulate the functions of the SAP on their own infrastructure/access point. Some equipment is capable of connecting a CWM to Wi-Fi without an SAP or other access point. ConnectWare Modules that connect via Ethernet cables are available. Also, some equipment is capable of connecting to the Open Kitchen cloud without any additional hardware present.

Connecting equipment to Open Kitchen is generally a fairly simple process.
Identify how you’re connecting the equipment to the internet.
Connect the relevant hardware.
Verify connectivity if possible.
Record important pieces of information.
At present, there are only 3 potential pieces of hardware from Powerhouse Dynamics that might be involved in connecting the equipment to the internet. If you were provided any of the hardware pictured below, please refer to the relevant pages for specifics on how to connect them.

If your installation is connecting without the use of any of the above hardware, please follow the directions provided by the original equipment manufacturer to connect your equipment. You will need to record the unique identifier of your equipment in order for your equipment to be properly assigned to your location in Open Kitchen. This value can vary by model, but it is generally one of the items below. If you are unsure, please ask the original equipment manufacturer to clarify which one is needed.
“Device ID” or “UUID” expressly stated in the equipment’s touchscreen
Equipment’s Serial Number
MAC Address of the equipment’s control board
